ePropulsion, a global leader and market challenger in marine electric propulsion systems and services, announced today it has sponsored Travis Odenbach's J/70 one-design for the 2021 Equipped with an ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Evo, Odenbach's yacht Honeybadger competed in the North American J/70 Championships hosted by the Annapolis Yacht Club, May 9-15 in Annapolis, Maryland and will compete in the J/70 World Championships hosted by the California Yacht Club that will take place in August 7-15 in Marina del Rey, California.

"All of us at ePropulsion are happy and proud to be involved in this popular one-design class, and we wish Travis luck in his races ahead," said Danny Tao, CEO of ePropulsion. "Not only does the J/70 provide an exceptional platform to challenge the skills of world-class sailors like Travis and his crew; it is a perfect match for our Spirit 1.0 Evo and, together, offers an ideal example of clean and environmentally responsible sport sailing."

Odenbach has already garnered great success in his racing career, winning the J/70 class 2021 Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta, the 2020 J/24 East Coast Championship and the 2017 J/70 Great Lakes Championship/CAN AM Challenge, to name a few of his accolades.

"I am grateful for the support of ePropulsion," said Odenbach. "The Spirit 1.0 Evo is the perfect size auxiliary to help us maneuver to and from the start line and eliminates the need to carry gasoline outboard fuel. I also love how reliable, clean and quiet it is compared to internal combustion outboards."

The innovative Spirit 1.0 Evo system provides lightweight, efficient, simple-to-use, quiet propulsion that is vibration, emission and exhaust free. Providing enough power to easily match a 3 HP four-stroke gasoline outboard motor, the Spirit 1.0 Evo can be an auxiliary power source for a daysailer up to 1.5 tons and is more than capable of propelling a 10-foot tender. The best-selling ePropulsion models since 2015, the Spirit features an integrated battery and folding tiller. Due to their compact form factor, users can install the Spirit Series in just one minute.

The J/70 Speedster, at just over 22 feet is J/Boats' first fully ramp-launchable, keelboat - designed to fulfill a growing need for an easy-to-own, high-performance one-design that is exciting to sail, stable enough for the entire family, easy to tow behind the family vehicle, and able to be rigged in the parking lot. The J/70 worldwide fleet has grown to over 1,300 boats, attracting some of the most talented sailors in the world and is helping to spark growth of numerous sailing leagues. Recognized by World Sailing as an international class, the J/70 Class holds annual European, North American, South American and World Championship events with special recognition of its Open, Corinthian, Women and Youth champions.
