The Relay4Nature baton left Stockholm, Sweden on the last leg of the Prologue race onboard Team Childhood 1. The baton will now make its way with the Dutch/Swedish flagged team to Lorient, France for the start of The Ocean Race Europe on the 29th May 2021.
Initially passed to The Ocean Race Europe patron Virginijus Sinkevicius in Klaipeda, Lithuania, the baton has engaged with Prime Ministers, ocean advocates, sailors, scientists and young children on its whistle-stop tour of the Baltic Sea.
Isabella Lovin, the co-chair Friends for Ocean Action commented on receiving the baton in Stockholm, Sweden: "We need to really cooperate. We need to go from words to action and put money, political leadership and will to protect our oceans."
The Relay4Nature baton will continue its journey around Europe from the north Atlantic coast into the Mediterranean onboard the yachts participating in The Ocean Race Europe.
The baton will eventually be presented at COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021.
