After a year full of disruption, the easing of Covid restrictions means the 2021 Fireball Open season is finally about to kick off.

We start at Brightlingsea SC on 22/23 May: a fleet favourite, and the venue for the 2022 National Championship. This is also the first of the 2021 Gul Golden Dolphin Series. Online entry is available until Friday 21st May. The club will be offering its usual warm welcome and excellent racing.

The following weekend (29/30 May) we're heading to the south coast to Poole YC, a new open meeting venue for the fleet. With table service for dinner at the club's restaurant and the lure of a cooked breakfast, this is going to feel very like socials in "the old times". Racing will be in Poole Harbour with full details on the club website.

On 5/6 June, WPNSA is hosting the second Gul Golden Dolphin event and we get to take advantage of their fantastic facilities. Entry is online via the WPNSA website.

There are more great events to follow. We are looking forward to seeing Fireballs back on the open circuit and sailors reconnecting from around the country.

Some experienced competitors found the challenge a bit too robust Yesterday's Frostbites in Dun Laoghaire Harbour were a test for organisers and competitors alike. The forecast suggested a N-Easterly breeze. Wind strength had been predicted in the high teens gusting into the low twenties and that too manifested itself. Posted on 28 Feb
