East Anglian Offshore Racing Association (EAORA) organises and promotes offshore racing on the East Coast of England, combining great racing with friendship and camaraderie.

The programme for 2021 starts with the RORC East Coast Race, a Fastnet qualifier on Saturday June 5, starting and finishing at Harwich.

The four-day Offshore Regatta, in July, has always been popular with racing to Ostend and Ramsgate, but this year with Covid restrictions, Ostend will have to wait for another time. Starting on Thursday July 7 the programme instead incorporates the Pattinson Cup and the Janes Cup, traditionally held earlier in the season.

The regatta starts in Harwich, with races to Mersea, the Medway and Burnham, finishing back in Harwich on Sunday July 11 for the prize-giving.

Until this year, endorsed IRC certificates have been required to compete for overall honours in EAORA racing, but to celebrate the return of racing after a year lost to lockdown, and encourage wider participation, this year non-endorsed IRC boats are being welcomed, and can now win the prestigious Black Water Trophy and three class championships.

There is a feeder race to Ramsgate on July 17 for the start of Ramsgate Week and the traditional Round the Goodwins race on July 18 qualifies for EAORA season's points.

The established EAORA Houghton Cup race on September 4 runs alongside Burnham Week's Town Cup - another fine trophy bearing the names of many famous yachtsmen.

The EAORA programme finishes on Friday September 17 with the traditional Buckley Goblets race to Ostend, Covid permitting. It may be diverted to Ramsgate if borders are still closed.

Claire Scott, recently appointed EAORA chairman, will be hosting the prize-giving on November 13 at Haven Ports Yachts Club, Levington, where she is rear commodore sailing.

EAORA is delighted to welcome new sponsorship from DXB Pumps, which will help to make the season even more memorable.

Full details of the programme can be found on www.eaora.org.uk
