The Royal Akarana Yacht Club (RAYC) is excited to announce a three year partnership agreement with world-renowned sailmaker Doyle Sails, commencing in April, 2021.

Doyle Sails has been a long-time supporter of sailing globally, and the partnership agreement with RAYC will recognise Doyle Sails being the “Official Sailmaker of the Akarana Sailing Academy”.

RAYC acting General Manager Hannah Powrie is excited to bring Doyle Sails on board with the Club, and is looking forward to working closely with them over the next three years.

“The RAYC Sailing Academy is becoming well known for producing the next generation of kiwi sailors and we’re honoured that Doyle Sails has chosen to partner with the Academy to support grassroots sailing and beyond.” said Powrie.

RAYC Commodore Jason Morgan was thrilled with the partnership arrangement as it meant continued service of the academy sails, plus an extended offering to RAYC members.

“This partnership will enable our members to benefit directly from the relationship with Doyle Sails and at the same time keep the academy sailing with great sails.” said Morgan.

David Duff, Doyle Sails International Managing Director has recently been spending a lot of time at RAYC with the resurgence of the Cherub fleet alongside Doyle Sails CEO Mike Sanderson, and is looking forward to partnering in a more official capacity.

“Doyle Sails proudly supports sailors all around the world, but as a New Zealand owned and operated company the New Zealand partnerships are always very special to us.

“Youth sailing in particular continues to be a focus of ours, so any opportunity we have to share our passion for sailing with the next generation of sailors is exciting. The RAYC partnership means that we can continue to support the youth sailors but also a club with a long standing history within New Zealand sailing.” said Duff.

The RAYC Sailing Academy caters for beginners right through to those training for national, and international events. Located within both the Hyundai Marine Sports Centre and the Auckland Sailing Club facility, the Academy has produced world champion sailors as a result of the highly acclaimed coaching team.

“The Academy provides something for everyone, from grassroots through to world championships and beyond,” said Powrie.
