Many of those with the 2024 Paris Olympics in their sights will be among those competing at next month's Oceanbridge NZL Sailing Regatta.

The event, which will be hosted by the Wakatere Boating Club on April 10-11, is this country's top dinghy regatta and is open to all Olympic and youth classes.

There will be a sprinkling of Olympians and NZL Sailing Team members taking part and all of the classes set down for the 2024 Paris Olympics, except the two-handed offshore class, will be raced including windfoiling and kitefoiling.

Early entries close on Tuesday, March 30. Entries will still be accepted after this date but will incur an additional $100 fee.

"We expect there to be added spice to the racing in the youth fleets this year with news the youth sailing world championships are likely to go ahead in Oman at the end of the year," said Yachting New Zealand event and youth manager Sam Mackay. "It will also give those aspiring to be this country's future Olympians to race in front of our Olympic coaches."

That includes members of the Aon Fast Track squad, and the 2021 intake will be unveiled at the Wakatere Boating Club on the Friday evening after registration. The Aon Fast Track programme aims to accelerate the standard of the most talented youth sailors from top international youth sailors to successful Olympic campaigners.

Sustainability will be an important feature of the Oceanbridge NZL Sailing Regatta, and a green team will be in place in the hope of achieving at least gold status under the Sailors for the Sea clean regattas programme.

"Yachting New Zealand are proud to be running the regatta with Wakatere, who have a fantastic track record of running clean events seen in the fact they achieved platinum status for the 2020 RS Feva national championships in December.
