Latest news from the world of youth sailing: the 2021 edition of Lake Garda Meeting Optimist, a record event that recalls every year hundreds of sailors from all over the World to Riva del Garda, has been postponed.

Although the latest decree issued by the Italian Government would allow the event to take place from a regulatory point of view, having acknowledged the persistence of the health emergency and above all in the desire to keep the Garda Meeting an opportunity for fun for children who gather in Riva del Garda from all over the world, the organizers have prudently decided to postpone the start of the 39th edition to 20 May 2021.

"The decision to postpone the 39th edition of the Garda Optimist Meeting, taken jointly by all members of the organization, was not easy, but a duty and dictated by the strong awareness of having to protect the health of all participants and the entourage that travels with them.", commented the President of Fraglia Vela Riva Alfredo Vivaldelli.

"The fundamental reason that prompted us to take this decision, however, was that of keeping the Lake Garda Optimist Meeting, as the name itself recalls, an opportunity for meeting, aggregation and sharing, a sailing festival in short. The current conditions would not have allowed us to keep these promises which are the soul of the regatta that for years has made the name of the Fraglia Vela Riva shine in the World, and hence we took the choice to delay a bit and postpone the 39th edition to May."

Start postponed to 20 May 2021, when the more than five hundred young sailors already registered will compete in two days of qualifications and two days of finals to discover the winners of the 39th Garda Optimist Meeting both among the Juniors and the very young Cadets.
