The 2000 Class delivered their Millennium Series 2020 prize-giving via livestream. The stream was broadcast on Friday 19th Feb, hosted by Kev O'Brien (2000 Chair). The top four places were awarded trophies that were mailed before the livestream.

Fourth place was Helen and Andrew Philips from Cardiff Bay YC. Helen and Andrew have been members of the class for many years, Helen also volunteers as the treasurer for the class.

In third place and the top family junior winner was Ed and Ruben, father and son team sailing under the Royal Air Force burgee. Ed and Ruben have been sailing the 2000 dinghy for a few years and have been improving every year! Rubens enthusiasm for the sport is evident as he's always smiling on the water. His highlight of the millennium series was getting a t-shirt. All juniors involved with the millennium series will get official junior membership and will receive a free t-shirt.

Second place was the current championship father and daughter team Rob and Sarah Burridge. Rob and Sarah have been involved with the class again for many years. Rob is the sailing secretary organising the millennium series and national events on behalf of the class. Sarah has been involved with the class from a young age and her highlight was winning the 2020 UK Nationals.

In first place was Simon Horsfield and Katie Burridge, 2018 UK National champions. Again, both have been long-standing members and now multiple winners of the 2000 Millennium Race Series.

After the prize-giving, Kev explained about this year's Millennium Series in which the class have partnered with Pete Vincent from West Country Boat Repairs. Pete's explained that his support to the Millennium Series will offer prizes that will be spread across the fleet during events. Pete is very keen that the prizes are not just for the top-flight boats but to support the people who are new to the sport of sailing and who would benefit from the extra support.

The first event for 2021 for the Millennium Series Race Series sponsored by West Country Boat Repairs is planned for Saturday 10th April at Bough Beech Sailing Club. This will be a one day and is subject to the current COVID-19 policy at the time.

If you want to sail the Millennium Series events the head over to the 2000 Class Association website or 2000 Class Facebook page for further details.

The class prides itself on being super family-friendly and newcomers are very much welcome. You'll find the support at events second to none and you find sailing the 2000 dinghy 'Probably the best entry-level family performance asymmetric sailing dinghy in the world!' a positive experience.
