Australia Day at Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club (SSCBC) was filled with Opti sailors for the second day of the Buxton Cup and Couta Boat sailors for the RT Edgar Three Piers Race.

One highlight for those who attended was the special guest appearance by Alistair Murray from Australian Sailing and Malcolm Page OAM who interviewed our Australian Sailing Team and Tokyo Olympians: Tess Lloyd, Jaime Ryan, Will Phillips and Sam Phillips.

The juniors enjoyed asking their Olympic idols some questions, including "have you ever had an animal jump in your boat?" "What inspired you to try for the Olympics?", "What is the scariest animal you have seen out on the water?" "How did you start sailing?", "What keeps you going when you're feeling down or there's bad weather?" "Is it hard sailing with your brother [Sam & Will]?"

The Buxton Cup was sailed in challenging conditions for our younger competitors, with some gusts of 25 knots, but they persisted and completed their races. Congratulations to everyone who participated!
