With the 2020 Nationals cancelled due to Covid Restrictions the 2021 event will be the sixth national championships of the D-Zero Class and the first to be held away from the South Coast - a big vote of confidence in Scotland, and Largs as an international sailing venue.
The new dates are 20th, 21st & 22nd August 2021 (practice on 19th August).
The 2019 Nationals were held at the prestigious Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy - site of the London Olympics Sailing - Forty-three D-Zeros competed, with three Scots figuring in the top ten overall.
Scotland was voted unanimously as the location for the next Nationals on the basis that Largs SC is recognised as high-quality sailing and an extremely hospitable venue. It has hosted four very popular D-Zero Scottish Championships; the 2019 event enjoying 17 entries, with boats travelling from all over the UK.
It is expected that the 2021 event will attract at least 50 boats with more than 15/20 Scottish entries. In the Scottish Year of Coasts and Waters we intend to make this one of the best and most enjoyable racing events that the fleet has experienced.
RSK, an International Engineering, Environmental and Support Services Group, have agreed to sponsor the event and the on-water tracking is sponsored by Tunnocks. We are hoping that other Scottish companies will support the event to give a real Scottish Welcome and a taste of the best Scotland has to offer. Thanks for sticking with us!
