The first lady commodore of a Yacht Club in India

POR for Mumbai, Gulshan Rai, has sent in a notice that Ms. Rama Mathew has been elected Commodore of Bombay Customs Yacht Club. Gulshan was the recipient of the Barton Cup in 1988.

Ms. Rama Mathew was elected Commodore of Bombay Customs Yacht Club (BCYC), India's only civil services sailing club, established in 1980 with the object of providing sailing and seamanship to Bombay Customs officers of all ranks.

BCYC has two yachts: a 21ft Morgan Giles designed built-in India Seabird class Sailcus and a British Northshore- built 32ft Vancouver class Jaycus III. BCYC also conducts an annual yachting regatta to commemorate International Customs Day on Jan. 26.
