Day Three of the Bartercard Sail Paradise didn't disappoint. The light winds that were predicted did prevail, and consequently, the results on the day confirmed there would be a grandstand finish for top honours in the majority of divisions tomorrow.
After four days of racing, it's anyone's guess which crews will take top honours.
The fact that the light winds prevailed today suited yachts that are more competitive in those conditions, so consequently brought them into consideration for top championship honours in the four-day series.
Crankstar, Indulgence, Easy Day, Dodgy Vindaloo and Bumblebee 4 are the yachts to beat tomorrow in their respective divisions.
Regatta officials at Southport Yacht Club are overjoyed with the success of the series. The 56-yacht fleet made this the largest offshore regatta ever staged in southeast Queensland.
The seas were near flat, and the easterly wind rarely topped barely topped 12 knots today. This was in direct contrast to the 20-plus knot north-easterly wind that prevailed the previous day.
However, there could be plenty of excitement tomorrow as rugged conditions are forecast - a southeast wind topping 22 knots and lumpy seas. The courses for the fleet will be set relatively close to the shore at Main Beach.
