MacGlide continues partnership to present 178th iconic 'Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race' in 2021

Royal Geelong Yacht Club (RGYC) is proud to announce that MacGlide has continued its partnership with RGYC, set to present the 178th Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race on Sunday, 24 January 2021.
MacGlide, by Mactac, is a world leading biocide-free fouling release film manufacturer who first partnered with Festival of Sails in 2020.
While the 2021 Festival of Sails has been cancelled due to the impact of COVID-19, the Organising Committee has resolved to maintain the tradition of the iconic Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race and provide Sailors the opportunity to get out on the water over the Australia Day long weekend.
Thanks to the support of MacGlide and its certified national partner National Marine Wraps, it is a great outcome to be able to offer the 178th edition of the race.
National Marine Wrap's Director, Phil Smith, said the company is glad to bring back Mactac's MacGlide for a second year.
"We have always believed in MacGlide but now we have even more evidence it works," Phil said. "COVID-19 certainly hasn't helped but the early adopters have already seen huge benefits."
Mactac Business Director ANZ, Jordan Leach, said MacGlide is proud to continue its ongoing partnership with RGYC.

MacGlide's products also offer benefits such as a fuel consumption decrease of over 5% and the film self-cleaning when sailing above 7 knots. Being highly hydrophobic, the product also strongly discourages organisms from attaching to a vessel's hull.
The Notice of Race for the Passage Race was released last week, with an influx of entries already being received. With the impact of COVID-19 and the relevant limitations, entries may be capped to ensure a COVID Safe experience. RGYC encourage Sailors to enter early so to not miss out.
