American Magic docked out first, close to 11.00am, with Luna Rossa following about 45 minutes later.
They both sailed off the the East Coast Bays on Auckland's North Shore, and well out to sea, well away even from Course A which would normally be an option in this wind direction.
Both boats were close enough and in the same patch of water, and must now have an idea of their relative speeds.
Luna Rossa sailed back to the dock, looking OK given the variance in wind pressure. The clean simplicity of her hull is the most noticeable feature.
INEOS Team UK did not sail today, and we're expecting to see Emirates Team NZ's new raceboat within the next couple of weeks.
