Turkey provides automatic permit extensions

by Hasan Kaçmaz, PO 27 Oct 2020 00:21 PDT

Yachts in Turkey whose permits may be expiring are granted automatic extensions until May 2021.

Some non-Turkish registered yachts in Turkey have had problems with extending their stay in Turkey or been unable to clear out from Turkey as their 5-year permit is expired.

Maybe a few OCC members are having similar problems and, with the ministry announcement, this problem is solved.

According to the Tourism Ministry Announcement dated 14th October 2020, the 5 years duration permit period is extended until the 31st May 2021 for the privately-owned non-Turkish registered yachts that have entered Turkey starting from 01.01.2015 and also already 5 years extended permit yachts.

Any non-Turkish registered yacht in Turkey will have no problem with the authorities in Turkey even if 5 years' time limit is already completed. The attached ministry announcement clearly says that:

  • Privately owned non-Turkish registered yachts that have entered into Turkey after 01.01.2015 or
  • Privately owned non-Turkish registered yachts whose stay in Turkish waters was already extended by the ministry a further 5 years even this extended permit period does not expire before 31st May 2021
All the above yachts are allowed and have permission to stay in Turkey until 31st May 2021 without giving any notice or application to the Turkish authorities.
