Following recent announcements from World Sailing regarding changes to the dates and venues for the 2021 and 2022 Youth Sailing World Championships, US Sailing is planning an expanded training schedule and regimen to continue raising the bar for high-performance sailing in 2021. With support from the America One Foundation and Quantum Racing, the updated and expanded schedule of clinics and regattas will be released in early 2021.

"We are excited for the future, and 2021 will be an excellent opportunity to raise the bar with high quality training camps, clinics, and regattas," said Leandro Spina, US Sailing Olympic Development Director. "Over the years we have learned that we achieve our best when the sailors, coaches, clubs, class associations and US Sailing are all working together, so that will be our focus. We are disappointed that the Youth Worlds will not take place this July, but we are lucky to have other major domestic regattas to look forward to."

In late September, World Sailing announced that the Royal Netherlands Watersport Association, the municipality of The Hague and TIG Sports moved the 2022 Sailing World Championships to the summer of 2023. The Youth Sailing World Championships, originally planned for The Hague in July 2021, was also rescheduled for the summer of 2022.

World Sailing now seeks a venue to host the 2021 Youth Sailing World Championships in December 2021. When the venue and dates have been announced for the 2021 Youth Sailing World Championships, US Sailing will release the qualification process details to the domestic sailing community.

The move to postpone and reschedule the Sailing World Championships and Youth Sailing World Championships comes following the global challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the rearrangement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to 2021.

World Sailing cancelled the 2020 edition of the Youth Sailing World Championships that was scheduled to be held in Salvador, Brazil on December 12-19, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
