East Coast squid closure to protect spawning squid and calamari

A reminder to fishers that waters around the upper south east coast including Great Oyster Bay and Mercury Passage will be closed from 15 October to 14 November inclusive to protect spawning squid and calamari.

15 Oct-14 Nov 2020 inclusive:
East Coast spawning squid area closed (includes Great Oyster Bay and Mercury Passage).
25 Oct 2020:
Recreational Sea Fishing Strategy discussion paper public comment period closes.
1 November 2020:
- North Coast spawning squid area re-opens (from Cape Grim east to Cape Naturaliste).
- Recreational rock lobster season opens in waters outside the East Coast Stock Rebuilding Zone.
- Striped trumpeter season re-opens.
30 November 2020: Recreational scallop season closes for all waters at midnight.
5 December 2020: Recreational rock lobster season opens in the East Coast Stock Rebuilding Zone.
