LEGENDARY SAILOR SKIP DIEBALL JOINS DOYLE SAILS.

Offering a fresh face to Chicago and Detroit sailors.
A changing of the guard in the United States Midwest sees Skip Dieball, one of the most accomplished and respected sailors in the US come onboard with Doyle Sails. Skip cut his sail making teeth in his native Midwest area, having owned and operated sail lofts for many years. A true sailing expert offering design, manufacture and sailing expertise to all sailors, from One Design classes and cruising yachts through to Grand Prix race yachts.

The performance of sails is key to the success of any sailing, be it enjoying a day sail on the lake or a Grand Prix race event. Here at Doyle Sails we are experts in making your sailing as good as it can be, taking pride in showcasing this through our many happy owners and successful campaigns. Skip joins Doyle Sails immediately as your new local Doyle Sails Midwest expert and is waiting to hear from you he will be facilitating all new sail needs, alongside coordinating any maintenance required for your current Doyle sails.
Skip comments on his new position "When presented with the opportunity to continue my sailmaking career, I looked closely at groups that not only invested in product, but in people.  Doyle Sails is clearly making the proper investment in both and I couldnt be happier with our direction going forward.  Sailmaking is as much a people business and it is a product business.  Too many sailmaking groups have lost touch with the personal, relationship-based approach that is necessary to grow the sport and our business in sailing.

My passion for sailmaking has never been greater.  Through the many sailing programs that I have found sincere friendships and the thousands of trusted customers throughout the One Design market, I truly look forward to expanding my sailing family and continue to help grow the sport.

Doyle Sails One Design expert Jud Smith comments on Skip Dieball joining Doyle Sails:

Ive known Skip for a number of years, initially meeting him in 2012 at the North American Etchells Championships in Detroit, from there he has grown from strength to strength and is now one of the most successful and well-respected sailors in the Midwest. Chicago and Detroit have a lot of racing going on, so not only will he be an asset to the One Design classes, but he also brings just as much knowledge and experience to bigger yachts.

What is most exciting about Skip joining Doyle Sails is that he is a true expert of our field he is a designer, a real sailmaker and a great sailor this is hard to come by these days. Ive been a competitor of Skips for a long time and more recently weve collaborated as coaches he is an asset to any team so were excited hes finally on ours, Im looking forward to seeing what we can do together

Skip Dieballs sailing career has evolved from regional champion to winning world championships, his accolades earning him nomination for the US Sailing ROLEX Yachtsman of the Year in 2004 & 2015, alongside being nominated for the US Sailing Sportsman of the Year.

Mike Sanderson, Doyle Sails CEO, comments:

Doyle Sails is about people making sure we always have the best sailors on our team, so Skip joining our group is exciting a talented sailor, Midwest local and a very experienced sailmaker, he is absolutely the right person to be the face of Doyle Sails for Chicago and Detroit and the wider Midwest region.

Throughout his career, Dieball has earned 37 major One Design Titles and continues to build of this success on and off the water as the immediate past Waterfront Director for the Chicago Yacht Club he actively sailed and coached as much as the schedule allowed. He continues to be passionate about building sailing and helping sailors in the Midwest.

Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Dieball graduated from Eastern Michigan University, and now splits his time between Chicago and Detroit, Michigan. Skip and his wife Laurie are active members of US Sailing, Inter-lake Yachting Association, Bayview Yacht Club, North Cape Yacht Club and various class associations.
