The HYS Hamble Winter Series starts this weekend and the Force 4 Chandlery will provide day prizes for the first Sunday's racing. Athena Rossi, Manager of Force 4 at Port Hamble, will once again be in attendance to present the prizes in a socially distanced manner.

Before the first Sunday race, the Performance 40 fleet will have three windward/leeward races on Saturday 3rd October. This will be Round 3 of their shortened 2020 series. There are 15 of this very competitive class entered for the weekend.

There seems to be very little agreement on the wind direction for Saturday at the moment, you can find NW on one site and SE on another with a third giving a swing of 60 - 70 degrees during the scheduled racing time. They all seem fairly certain, however, that there will be light or heavy rain showers. Oil skins and a smart tactician would seem to be the order of the day. Failing that a large amount of luck may help.

The P40's will be joining the main winter series fleet for a longer round the cans race on Sunday 4th, and at the moment all weather sites have the wind from a W/SW direction for the three IRC Classes. Once again rain is promised.

Entries have built steadily over the last two weeks and forty plus boats are expected to arrive in the start area on Sunday.

Entries can be made throughout the series at www.hamblewinterseries.com
