Industry optimistic ahead of Presidential Election - North America MarineBusinessWorld newsletter

As the country continues to wrestle with the Covid-19 pandemic the two candidates for the next Presidential term are locked in battle debating their respective merits. Our monthly North America Marine Business World newsletter summarises some of the activity in our industry over the past month.

Industry Update

Marine CEOs - Q2 sentiments more optimistic. NMMA's Q2 2020 Marine CEO Sentiment Report, a quarterly survey to assess the state and needs of U.S. recreational boat, engine and marine accessory manufacturing businesses, is now available.

International Boating Community urges US, EU trade officials to remove tariffs on boats. NMMA, the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA), and the European Boating Industry (EBI) sent a letter to the United States (U.S.) and European Union (EU) trade officials applauding their recent progress on trade negotiations and urging them to reach an agreement that removes the EU's 25 percent tariff on U.S. manufactured boats.

Wholesale boat shipments and new powerboat retail sales climb for third consecutive month. New data from the NMMA show wholesale shipments of new boats increased for the third consecutive month in July, doubling compared to June on a seasonally adjusted basis, as boat building production continued to gain momentum across all boat categories.

New Boats

Groupe Beneteau adapts its 2021 new model launch strategy. As numerous boat shows have been cancelled in different regions of the world, Groupe Beneteau and its brands are proud to announce the new models of the 2021 season that will be presented through a series of private events.

Announcing a new breed of tradition - Cape50. The Cape50 has been conceived, designed and built in Australia to meet real boating conditions by Steve Campbell's Composites Constructions. Campbell is a 30-year master Shipwright, and dedicated ocean racer who has worked and sailed at the highest level, the America's Cup. His first was 1995 with Peter Gilmour's Nippon Challenge, and then 2000 with Paul Cayard's AmericaOne.

New Products

E3 Andromeda: the smallest of Ewol propellers. Small but powerful, it has a slim and light body and it's suitable for boats from 6 to 10 meters and engines from 7 to 30 hp.

Company Activity

Draco Boats expanding dealer network in the United States. Draco Boats, known the world over for ultra-clean, Scandinavian design and cutting-edge innovation, announced today that due to increased demand it is seeking to expand its dealer network in the United States together with sole importer and distributor Navic, LLC.

Harken employees acquire Harken. Peter Harken explains "Throughout the years, Olaf and I have been approached by lots of good people interested in acquiring our business.
