After yesterday's action on the Waitemata Harbour with Emirates Team New Zealand and American Magic sailing in a staged race, today was very tame by comparison.

Defiant was the only AC75 sailing today, docking out just before noon and turning to port at North Head as they headed north up the Rangitoto Channel into a 15kt plus seabreeze.

Off Milford Beach, next one north of Takapuna the Hauraki Gulf the white water was everywhere. These were a little below the conditions, where Emirates Team New Zealand's Te Aihe performed a spectacular roll to wind ward, lifting her leeward wing half clear of the water.

After making a few runs around laid marks, the New York Yacht Club's team decided to exit the area, and headed for Course E - around the back of Browns Island and into "The Paddock" and flatter water.

They returned back to the Waitemata around 5.00pm, making a long fast 7nm reach down the Motukorea Channel to the team base in Auckland.
