WB27: Wooden Boats introduces the 'Bentley style' tender

Following hard on the heels of the 14m WB14 limo tender in April, the 27-foot WB27 shares the Venetian taxi boat styling and carbon composite/PVC foam sandwich construction that distinguishes the range of bespoke tenders by Wooden Boats.

"A distinguishing feature of this particular tender is that it's like a convertible sportscar with a carbon-fibre hardtop in two sections that can be removed so it becomes an open boat," says Marco Arnaboldi, founder of WB. "For the rest, it's built entirely of carbon fibre using vacuum resin infusion for a weight of just 2,600kg at half load."

Another unique feature of the tender are the automotive tail lights requested specifically by the owner, which are the fully working rear lights from a Bentley Mulsanne.

With both exterior and interior seating, the light grey leather upholstery is also part of the Bentley palette of materials. The backrest of one of the interior seats folds down to reveal glass or bottle holders and there is a 40-litre fridge underneath for storing cold drinks. Additional storage is available under a teak-clad, carbon deck hatch between the two rows of seats.

A bow ramp means the boat can approach the beach and guests can disembark directly. The transom access also folds down to create a swim platform. In addition to being extremely light, the boat is also very quiet and dry for the driver.

The WB27 is fitted with a Mercury 3.0 TDI diesel engine with electronic injection coupled to a Mercury Bravo 3 stern drive for a top speed of 36 knots and a range at economical speed of around 155 nautical miles. It is also possible to install twin inboard diesels.

WB is currently building a 10-metre custom tender for an explorer yacht, an 8-metre limo tender and is closing negotiations for two 9-metre-plus tenders for the brokerage house Moran Yachts.
