Adrian Seiffert, Director of Marine Auctions Pty Ltd, said he believed the "Sail" Online Auction could be a first of its kind, as potential bidders can bid for the "sails" from any location in the world via the internet.
Offered in the Online Auction are Sails to suit yachts from 40 to 100ft, which include Asymmetrical & Symmetrical Spinnakers, Mainsails, Headsails, Genoa's & Roller Furling Genoas.
Some of the Sails are ex-Comanche, which holds the monohull Transatlantic record for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, and also has the fastest time for the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Wild Oats XI, winner of nine Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races. TP52s, first 3 place getters in IRC in the 2019 Sydney Hobart were TP52s, plus various other yachts.
Adrian further said that all the Sails are ex Sydney, Australia, will be sold to the highest bidder, and the final bid price is C.I.F., which includes the cost of goods, insurance and freight to any major airport in the world.
All the sails are rated out of 10, which is an indication of what state they are in. Sails rated 9/10 have only been used for a few hours. Full measurements of each Sail and the rated condition of each sail being offered in the Online Auction are described in the Online Bidding Catalogue.
Marine Auctions can send to any potential buyer, The Sail Exchange "Boat Measuring Guide" to work out the size of the sail that is required. Also, we can arrange any Sail to be cut to suit the buyer's requirements.
Adrian believes this Online Auction is a great opportunity for any potential buyer to obtain a near new Sail at possibly around 10 to 20% price of a new Sail.
The bidding will commence on Wednesday 23rd September for around 76 Sails and will end on Tuesday 29th September at 2pm AEST.
