WASZP Sailors it is time to get those GPS devices charged and get on the water. One of the most exciting competitions of 2020 is about to commence, with one epic prize on the end of it. A once in a lifetime opportunity to sail on an F50!

The WASZP class is revolutionising the way it controls its class management. With a new system to be launched in late 2020 called WASZP RACEHUB, it will include a global rankings system, event management tools such as entry and results, global GPS racing and also an internal eSailing platform that is taking sailing into a Virtual Reality.

Before the International Class Membership system launches in October 2020, we are giving all our WASZP sailors as well as some SailGP professional sailors the opportunity to have early access to our GPS Platform gps-waszp.com

The event window will be between the dates September 14th - October 12th and we hope to run the largest International event of 2020. The entry is free and all you need is access to a WASZP and a GPS device, with over 950 WASZPs delivered worldwide and 1000 to be shipped before the end of 2020, there is a the possibility this event could be the largest on the 2020 calendar.

How does it work?

WASZP GPS Notice of Race

  • You will need access to a WASZP in standard one-design racing configuration and a GPS. Our platform supports most GPS devices and is very easy to use. You just upload your track and the platform does the rest. You can login, create an account and test the platform prior to the event.

  • Please have a read through the site FAQ (located top right of the screen). Here is some general information about GPS and the verification process. Essentially you can use any GPS device with the platform, however some are 'doppler' GPS devices that work with automatic verification, some need further verification. Read here for more information

  • Make sure you take a photo of you, your WASZP and your GPS device and date them if you are required to provide 2nd verification of your session. Ideally someone else is also there to verify, however if not a photo will suffice. Our platform also has an in-built verification system, so if you think you can get away with a false session, you will be found out!

  • The disciplines will be broken into three separate calculations, which are all automatically worked out by our system, they are:
    • Average top speed
    • Best 250m Run
    • Distance Sailed in 30mins (fitness challenge)
  • You will then be scored in each of those disciplines.
  • Your final rank will be the combination of your results across the three disciplines.

Example

When you sign up, you will need to select whether you are an amateur or a professional sailor. A professional sailor is constituted if you are contracted to any of the major professional circuits or have sailed on any of the professional circuits in 2020 (to be specified).

The first placed amateur WASZP sailor in the competition will win an amazing prize.

Prize

2x Spectator tickets to the SailGP event of your choice and a ride on an F50!

This truly is one of the best prizes in sailing and you can only get this sort of access in the WASZP Class, we are super proud to be partnered with SailGP and assisting them on their road to re-defining the sport!

Stay tuned for more information about Entering the event as we get closer!
