The Storm Trysail Club's Annapolis Fall Regatta will be held October 23-25, the culmination of a successful big-boat racing season on the Chesapeake. Entries are open for all boats interested in fun and competitive racing in one of the best venues for Fall sailing in the U.S.

Due to careful adherence to state and local COVID-19 safety standards, the year's season got a late start in June yet has still attracted a strong turnout in a large number of local races and regattas organized by Annapolis Yacht Club.

"As befitting an organization very much focused on safety, we are being cautious, vigilant, and are closely following the state's COVID-19 guidelines, so there won't be any shoreside social events," said Storm Trysail Club Regatta Chair Dick Neville. "Even so, interest seems strong as people want to get out and sail. We have been really pleased with the large turnouts we're seeing compared to past years, and we look forward to an even greater turnout for the Storm Trysail Club Annapolis Fall Regatta since it's the last real chance to race this year in this region."

The Storm Trysail Club Annapolis Fall Regatta will once again use its popular three-day format of mixed inshore buoy races and short coastal distance races to appeal to those who enjoy proving a variety of skill sets in big boat racing: The quick action of precision boat handling and tactics found in buoy racing combined with a focus on strategy, navigation and boat speed required for distance racing success. Mastering both sets of skills is important in all ORC championships, so the winning team of each class in this event will be crowned the 2020 ORC East Coast Champion for that class.

STC Chesapeake Station Captain Jeff Goldring adds: "ORC has a lot of momentum here in the Chesapeake. That's been an important factor in the revival and popularity of big boat racing in this region."
