Finally, the waiting is over! Tomorrow, Thursday 20 August, the SAILING Champions League kicks off its season in Tutzing at Lake Starnberg.

Until Sunday, 23 August, a total of 54 races will be sailed at the Deutscher Touring Yacht Club. 23 teams from 10 nations will start in 18 flights. The top four will sail in the Final Series for the overall victory of the qualifier.

Among the favourites to qualify for the final are the Norddeutsche Regatta Verein from Germany, the team from Hjuviks Båtklubb from Sweden and the Swiss Regattaclub Oberhofen. In addition, the Deutscher Touring Yacht-Club, winner of the year 2016 and host of this year's qualifier, also wants to attack again.

Race Officer Wolfgang Stückl is excited for the regatta weekend with international top-class sport: "We from the Deutscher Touring Yacht-Club are looking forward to the event and I am sure we will see some great races". A lot of sunshine and moderate wind conditions, but also smaller thunderstorms await the sailors in the coming days.

On Saturday and Sunday the SAILING Champions League will be broadcasted live by SailTracks from 12 noon. Spectators can follow the races on YouTube, Facebook and sailing-championsleague.com as well as on the German online sports channel sportdeutschland.tv.

The results will be available here.

Further information such as crew list and pairing list can be found on the event page here.
