The long day continues for Foil for Life Challenge by Lemer Pax

by Mark Jardine 14 Aug 2020 12:49 PDT 14 August 2020

It's been a long slog for the WASZP sailors in the Foil for Life Challenge by Lemer Pax crossing the Channel. After leaving Lymington the weather patterns forced a change of destination as Le Havre simply wasn't going to be possible in the timeframe. Instead they are travelling to Port du Becquet, just to the east of Cherbourg.

Throughout the day hundreds of followers have been watching the tracker at yb.tl/foilforlife. The sailors are currently around 8 nautical miles from their destination with an ETA of around 2230 CET.

It isn't just the light winds that the team are battling, there's also the quarantine announcement, meaning that the British contingent need to get back to the UK by 04:00hrs on 15th August. They are travelling in a Covid-secure manner with a full support team on RIBs.

The sailors are raising money for the NHS and Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP). The support of Lemer Pax ensures that every single Euro and Pound will go to the organisations. Donations can be made via the www.foilforlife.com website, where you can find more information about the team of sailors.

The team are immensely grateful to Lemer Pax for their title sponsorship of the challenge.
