Bayside Sailboards is ready for a big year of slalom racing and GPS competition. After a year's hiatus and an injection of young fresh blood into the committee enthusiasm is high to get the season off and running.

An action packed calendar awaits the slalom sailors, starting in September and running through until March 2021. On top of the regular fortnightly racing on Moreton Bay will be a QLD state championship, where a three-weekend holding period will be utilised to ensure the best conditions possible for one full weekend of racing.

This season is all about inclusion and progression. With plenty of young sailors from the ranks of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron chomping at the bit to better each other on the course and a host of newcomers eager to experience the excitement of slalom racing it should be a friendly, fun and competitive atmosphere on the start line.

With the advent of foils comes new possibilities of exciting racing in the slightest of breeze. With the introduction of foils in slalom racing on the Professional Windsurfing Tour (PWA) and the inclusion of slalom races in the new Olympic IQ Foil class the possibilities are only starting to be explored. Hence for this season at Bayside all races in winds of 12 knots or less will be run on foils. Whether you have the latest IQ gear or beginner freeride gear all are welcome to come test themselves on the slalom course.

GPS racing is a keenly followed discipline that is gaining in popularity. With new, more inclusive formats this Bayside season will be stacked with competitions for those that are only after one thing - SPEED. Come try this exciting side of windsurfing and learn from some of the best in the country.

The season kicks off on Sunday September 6 with an open day BBQ. We will be hosting fun practice races and onshore tutorials on the day to allow newcomers to get to grips with slalom racing procedures. Plenty of experienced sailors will also be on hand for any questions you may have regarding racing, GPS and more. We are also hosting a try wind foiling day on Sunday August 23 for anyone who wants to experience the joy of foiling before shelling out their hard earned money.
