The 2020 Lapwing Championships was not short of nail-biting racing, with every race having moments of drama. Despite the low turnout, the opposition was fierce.

It began on the 1st of August where a close and intense first race lead to Skua snatching the win at 'Elbow' before the finish from an unlucky Shoveler.

The afternoon race was very close also, with Skua again claiming victory due to an unfortunate collision from Shoveler at the mark (when leading) who ended up recovering with an impressive third place right on the finish line.

The following day was more of a mixed bag as Whaup took the win in the morning, meaning that whoever won the last race between Skua and Whaup would be the champion. After a very close battle between these two boats Skua was triumphant and defended the Lapwing Championship title for the third year running.

It was agreed by all that the racing was the most competitive it had been for a long time. A big thank you to John Chalker the Race Officer, who lead us down a multitude of good courses with plenty of action. There were moments of no wind, and moments of high wind and tall waves, all contributing to a great weekend of racing. Thanks to all who came.
