Try a Fifteen is an opportunity to have a trial sail in a Flying Fifteen (F15).

The F15 has maintained its reputation as an exciting, competitive two person racing boat. The class is a fun, fast and exhilarating boat to sail by crew combinations of all sizes, genders and ages. The boat is ideal for beginners and those returning to sailing after university or starting a family.

The F15 is a modern two-person one-design keelboat and despite its name is 20 feet or 6.1m long. 15 feet is the nominal waterline length of the boat. The boat performs like a dinghy and planes easily in a moderate breeze.

Being a strict one design, hull shapes are not superseded and restrictions on the number of new sails keep the expense down, meaning the winners are usually the best sailors!

The lines still have a timeless quality and the clever keel shape allows easy launching and retrieval without the lifting of keels. The boat only weighs a little over 300 kgs, so can easily be towed by a range of vehicles.

The F15 has a well established international fleet structure and is sailed in a number of countries around the world spanning lake, estuary and sea venues.

The F15 is a World Sailing International Class. The International Class Association, Flying Fifteen International (FFI), coordinates events, represents the class, circulates a yearbook and sends regular communications to all members.

To Try a Fifteen please click here or on our advertisement and complete the simple form and we will arrange for a representative at the nearest fleet to your location, to contact to you to arrange a mutual time for you to have a trial sail.

Please peruse our web site for more details about the class.

It will be the most fun you can have with a keel on!
