Sunsail raises £20,538 for our NHS heroes and Turn to Starboard

by Kira Daly 29 Jun 2020 02:50 PDT

An online auction, organised by Sunsail, has raised £20,538 in three weeks for the UK's incredible and hard-working NHS, as well as Turn to Starboard, a charity that uses sailing to help Armed Forces personnel and their families make the right turn.

Sunsail, the global yacht charter company that offers sailing holidays to first time sailors and experienced adventurers, wanted to express its gratitude to all NHS staff and its chosen charity at this difficult time.

Kate Staniforth, Senior Marketing Manager for Sunsail comments, "I'd like to thank our incredible sailing community, our partners and every member of the Sunsail team who have worked tirelessly to get this auction together in such a short amount of time.

"I'd also like to thank every person who has placed a bid on these amazing lots. You have made a huge difference and all money raised will be divided equally between the NHS and Turn to Starboard, a charity close to our hearts. We are living through very challenging times and to be able to come together and support those in need has been a real honour."

There were many incredible experiences and items up for grabs, including a sailing day aboard a new Sunsail 41.0 yacht with a sailing professional, from Sunsail's Port Solent base in the UK. There were 14 sailors all offering up their time for this worthy cause, including Sunsail ambassador, Dee Caffari MBE - whose lot raised an impressive £1,400.

Dee Caffari MBE comments, "I am delighted to help Sunsail raise money for these worthy causes. It's been touching to see the generosity of the individuals and businesses within our industry, coming together to help others. Thank you for all the bids making this auction such a success."
