Read the latest newsletter from Sail-World New Zealand, with the top stories covering the America's Cup along with the latest Editorial covering the entry of America's Cup Challengers into New Zealand - prior to the Coalition Government announcement of Friday, allowing two Challengers through the closed NZ border, with the third Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli expected to apply.

Updating the editorial, the new policy covers America's Cup teams, and the admission of superyachts, with their owners considered to be part of the crew.

The policy does not cover sailing media, fans, sponsors and their VIP's, superyacht guests, TV production crew and regatta officials. It is hoped that it will be stretched to cover competitors in the Youth America's Cup.

The confusion over the admission of the Avatar crew into New Zealand at the end of May, along with partners and family, while the issue of America's Cup teams was not addressed may be explained by a story published on Friday on the Radio New Zealand website, where an immigration lawyer maintains that there was no basis in immigration policy for the Avatar crew to have been given permission to enter New Zealand. The story can be read by clicking here

The situation with superyachts is still unclear. While the Coalition Government have changed their policy to allow most vessels into New Zealand, other than those entering for leisure reasons only, a story run on TVNZ News on Saturday carried the comment that superyacht applications would not be handled immediately, or for some weeks.
