Vicem 67 Cruiser sets new standard for luxury all-mahogany motoryachts

by Vicem Yachts 26 May 2020 09:18 PDT

  • The Vicem 67 Cruise r features solid cold-molded construction
  • Top speeds up to 23knots with a cruising range up to 2,000 nautical miles at slower speed
  • A three-stateroom, four-head layout caters to cruising flexibility and includes an optional crew's quarters
Vicem Yachts is proud to announce the debut of the all-new 67 Cruiser, a standard-setting motoryacht that blends best-in-class interior luxury with performance, craftsmanship, and timeless aesthetic appeal. Each of the yachts' three levels, from the accommodations deck to the main deck and exterior spaces underline Vicem's strategy of delivering uncompromising yachts to yachtsmen around the globe.

Due to the builder's advanced knowledge of cold-molded construction—a method that allows for a build that is strong yet light and versatile—owners have the flexibility to work closely with the manufacturer to ensure each vessel matches an individual's unique cruising needs.

"The 67 Cruiser accommodates the needs of our clients who desire maximum cruising flexibility," says Yigit Akbarlas, Vicem's resident naval architect and production manager. "With comfortable accommodations, including space for crew, and unparalleled exterior social spaces, our cold-molded construction method allows our clients to get the customizations, cruising range, economy, and luxury of a much larger yacht."

Unsurpassed interiors and social spaces

A tour of the Vicem 67 Cruiser's interior reveals this attention to detail, from seamless joinery work to the company's signature book-matched mahogany cabinets and bulkhead walls. Other thoughtful considerations include subtle under-cabinet accent and courtesy lighting as well as a layout that encourages social interaction yet has the nighttime privacy owners desire.

A motoryacht of timeless aesthetic appeal, the 67 Cruiser features a classic interior layout with five distinct social areas, starting with a saloon that features facing settees that accommodate up to eight people. A formal dining area and galley await owners amidships on the main deck, with the dining area capable of seating six at a beautifully varnished hi-low pedestal table. The forward dining settee easily converts to a forward-facing companion seat while under way.

An expansive galley sits opposite the dining area and can be open or closed off depending on owner preference. The galley itself is equipped for the discriminating chef, featuring abundant quartz countertop space and a full slate of appliances to suit longer cruises aboard.

All the way forward on the interior's main deck is a helm station that is open to the social areas of the yacht. The helm features a double-wide bench seat and a helm door for easy access to the yacht's protected side decks. Vicem's inclusion of a day head is a significant detail on a yacht of this size, ensuring guests total comfort under way.

Belowdecks, the Vicem 67 Cruiser features a three-stateroom layout, including both forward and amidships masters with king-size beds as well as an en suite starboard guest stateroom with a double bed. Stowage in lighted hanging lockers, beneath berths, and in nightstands will accommodate owner and guests for extended cruises. Leaving no detail too small, master and guest heads feature wood-framed, tempered-glass shower doors, quartz counters, and premium fixtures. A crew's quarters for two is located aft and has an eat-in galley, laundry facilities, and a head with separate shower to maximize owners' privacy.

As with all spaces onboard, Vicem perfects the fit-and-finish from stem to stern and carries the attention to detail all the way through to an immaculately planned and executed engine room.

Outdoor spaces aplenty

Vicem's dedication to providing social spaces extends to the outdoors in the form of a covered aft deck, flybridge, and an open, wide foredeck that includes seating for two as well as a large sunpad.

Port and starboard stairs lead owners from the aft deck down three steps to a full-beam swim platform that lowers hydraulically into the water. The aft deck itself is fully protected by an overhanging flybridge and features a transom settee served by a varnished solid-wood table that is wide enough to seat eight for al fresco dining.

A flybridge hardtop provides shelter from the elements at the upper helm station, as well as a forward-facing companion helm seat, a bar and galley console, as well as a U-shaped settee that wraps around a large table for additional al fresco dining options.

Power, performance and versatility under way

Built with a hard-chined semi-displacement hull, the Vicem 67 Cruiser is constructed of cold-molded mahogany using West System epoxy, resulting in a strong hull that's also light in weight. The build employs cold-molded plywood decks, superstructure, and housetop, sheathed with two plies of E-glass biaxial fabric with epoxy coating and lamination to maximize strength and durability.

"Unique to cold-molded designs, the 67 Cruiser has a hard-chined, deep-v planing hull," says Akbarlas. "This makes her unique as her reverse-angled chine sections increase dynamic stability even on full speed turns. Her well-engineered bow shape and sharpened entrance angle reduces wave resistance at bow, promoting a stable, soft ride at all speeds."

Underway, the Vicem 67 Cruiser is powered by twin 1,000-horsepower Volvo Penta D13 diesels using conventional shaft drives and custom-designed 4-blades propellers. The powerplant provides the vessel a 16-knot cruise and 23-knot top speed. With that engine package, the range at cruise is expected to be around 800 nautical miles, with a 2,200-nautical-mile range at 8 knots. Engine options also include a 725-horsepower Volvo Penta D11s as well as 900-horsepower Volvo Penta D13s.

The Vicem 67 Cruiser has earned the prestigious CE Design Category "A" designation, an independent certification that acknowledges that the vessel passes the rigorous seagoing and extended-cruising standards for vessels 40 feet and over.
