Covid-19 update on Royal Perth Yacht Club activities

As you will be aware, the West Australian Government eased some restrictions and moved the State to stage two of the multi stage plan for getting WA back to "normal".

Like you, we are all eager to resume competitive boating activities at the Club, however unfortunately at this stage it is clear that conventional competitions are not permitted. As such, your Club has chosen to remain cautious and as always put your safety first. This means that until we receive further information, our competitive activities will remain on hold.

It is expected that if Western Australia continues to follow the current reduction of cases, the next round of easing of restrictions to be announced in mid-June, will see us allowed to get back to racing.

We are similarly constrained by the new regulation that allows up to 20 people to dine in a venue. Sadly, the rule states that bar service can not be provided unless served ancillary to a meal, and that people dining together must be at least 1.5 metres apart unless they live in the same household.

The Club has decided that to open with these constraints simply does not make economic sense. Therefore the Wardroom will remain closed for a little longer.

We are preparing to re-open for dining and re-commence competitive events in mid-June. This is based on the governments indications that restrictions will be further relaxed at that time.

We ask for your patience and understanding during this time knowing that for us, your safety and wellbeing are of the utmost importance as is acting in compliance with the regulations.
