The Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) and World Sailing (WS) have successfully launched their unique "Webinar on Growing Sailing in Asia".

The online workshops are intended to engage the sports administrators of the 32 Asian member National Authorities (MNAs) who are often the unsung heroes in nurturing and shaping the future of our superstar sailors.

The jointly conceptualized and conducted webinars are steered by Dr. Malav Shroff, President, ASAF and Mr. Rob Holden, Training Delivery Manager - WS.

The online sessions touched on a variety of topics such as 'Creating Access', 'Retaining Sailors in the Sport', 'Pathways for Sailors in the Sport' and the usual practical tips for growing sailing in the region. A question-and-answer session is held at the end of each session.

Dr Malav has played a key role in arranging these highly engaging and interactive learning sessions for Asian as well as other MNAs around the world. The Inaugural Webinar on the topic of Creating Access witnessed participation of over 60 attendees from various parts of Asia and the world.

"This Webinar series is unique in a way, as it is for the first time, that we are going online and everyone needs to therefore make good use of this opportunity. The time during this lockdown can be used constructively by sharing valuable knowledge and information through these Webinars" said Dr. Shroff.

Mr. David Graham, CEO (Designate) - World Sailing attended the third online session this week and shared with the participants the important aspects according to him, on the subject of 'Creating Pathways'. David's extensive and impressive career includes functions in sales, events, coaching and sponsorship, including CEO and Managing Director roles. His experience as an active sailor is equally strong.

The next subject of the ASAF and WS webinar is on 'Creating Access for and Retaining Women in the Sport' and is scheduled for Tuesday the 19th of May 2020.

The ASAF would like to thank Mr. Kim Anderson, President World Sailing, Mr. David Graham, CEO (Designate) of WS, Mr. David Covo, Chairman of the Development and Regions Committee of WS and above all Mr. Rob Holden, Training Delivery Manager, WS, for this partnership in conducting these webinars and making this initiative possible.
