It was a challenging day on the ether. The fleet suffered a number of glitches and outages and we suspect many in the fleet are now googling how to install your own fibre optic cable.
As ever in sailing, success depends on moving on from those little inconveniences life throws at you (plastic bag on rudder etc). Toby Bloomfield overcame the trauma of letters (DSQ) on day one to post three bullets today pushing him up to third overall and first junior.
Ollie Evans has been working hard on those keyboard skills during quarantine but unfortunately for Ollie so has Freddy Wood. There is currently a battle to rival Waterloo at the top of the leader-board with only one point between the two sailors. Currently Mr Evans has the one point advantage. Will he hold it tomorrow?
Sonia Evans is storming ahead as first female with a comfortable 20 point lead on Flo Brellisford. As we all know sailing regattas can throw a curve ball at even the lengthiest of leads, so there is still all to play for tomorrow.
Now at tenth overall and first Senior, Troy Mitchell is really having a great run in this regatta. Maybe time to consider hopping in a 29er for the next season.
SUI 1273 Brent Verhoest has dropped back to 17th but with nine races scheduled and two discards there is still time for him to take on the Brits at the top of the leader-board.
Tomorrow we have a further three races scheduled and two discards. Good luck to all of our competitors.
