Why choose a locking eye splice?

by Sian Killean 12 Mar 2020 02:00 PDT

At the start of 2020 Marlow Ropes released an online Media Hub in their continued effort towards educating their end-users. The online portal contains a range of videos to inform and advise sailors on different subjects within sailing, splicing and rope-care.

The latest video in their hub is a 'Locking Eye Splice' and what splice to choose for blocks. This versatile splice is used to eliminate the possibility of the splice working its way out of the block and can be completed with covered or uncovered rope. This splice is great for beginners and is most common for locking Dyneema® splices. It can be applied in all applications where a lock is required.
