After four races on Sydney Harbour today, Tom Quick and the Outlaw team were crowned 2020 Farr 40 State Champions.

Principal Race Officer Phil Yeomans set a short course from Middle Head to Little Manly in 8-10 knots. After a frustrating day yesterday waiting for breeze which never arrived, the experienced race management team punched out four quick races to ensure the Class series was achieved.

"We waited and we waited and finally it came, the nor easter. We churned out three quick one lap races and ended the day with a two-lapper which was the best breeze of the day. Thankfully we got a result after yesterday's hanging around with no racing." Yeomans said.

Regatta winner Tom Quick was elated with today's result. "Firstly, I'd like to thank my team. They were fantastic today with the best hiking and they were all over their roles and teamwork. Mark Langford joined us on main this weekend and as always was on the pace straight away. Phil Armstrong and Jess Angus were excellent in the middle changing gears with the variable wind. As always David Chapman brought his A-game today and was calling the shifts beautifully.

Quick continued, Heading towards the Nationals and the Sydney Worlds the racing is incredibly close. Today we raced three one lap races and at the finish of race two, there were six boats finishing overlapped."

Jeff Carter and team Edake have won the last three regattas in a row but their winning streak came to an end today. Scoring two bullets, they still couldn't catch rival Outlaw and finished in second place overall.

Class President Rob Pitts and Double Black were in third place and finished the regatta scoring two seconds in the final two races.

The Farr 40 Class would like to thank Middle Harbour Yacht Club for a great season as our host club and special thanks to Phil Yeomans and the Race Management team who always do such a wonderful job.

The Class will reconvene for the premier regatta of the season, the Farr 40 National Championships: John Calvert-Jones Trophy being held at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron over three days on 20-23 March 2020 where the entire fleet of nine boats will battle it out for the National title.
