It was a cold and breezy morning for day 3 of the 2020 Hempel World Cup Series in Miami. With some delays ashore, sailors were able to complete all scheduled races in a northwesterly breeze with winds building up to 25 knots.

In the RS:X, Olympian Nikola Girke showed the fleet what she was made of by putting up some good scores today. With a bullet in the second race of the day, she currently sits in 5th place overall, climbing up the scoreboard by one spot. "I found my groove in that second race today. I know where I need to work on some things and I know what went wrong in those other races, so I'm ready to tackle on the next few days."

It's been a ride for the 470 duo, Jacob Chaplin-Saunders and Oliver Bone. Having sailed together for a total of 22 days, this team came into the event ready to give it their all. While day 2 didn't work out in their favour, they came back ready to get themselves on the map.

Currently, right below teammates, Luke Ramsay and Hunter Lowden, these guys were able to put up some decent scores today placing them right above Mexico. Jacob comments, "yesterday was pretty frustrating but it's just one of those things that happen. We had our shroud snap on the last downwind of the first race, so the mast came down and broke forcing us to come back to shore. We had to rig up a new mast on a new hull last night to be ready for the rest of the event."

"We're happy with our races today, we felt our speed was good, and we wanted to sail a little safer. But no gear breakage, no wipeouts, so overall it was a good day."

In the Laser, Robert Davis sticks to his 5th place position with only 5 points standing between him and his opponent, Andrew Lewis (TTO). The fight continues as we head into the last couple of days of racing before the medal races on Saturday.
