Clipper Race arrives to a warm Whitsunday welcome!

The Whitsundays will come alive over the next 7 days with the arrival of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race to its shores. The race returns to the Australian heart of sailing for the third consecutive term and the region is once again hosting the Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival.

A week of wondrous events is planned throughout the region to celebrate the arrival of the Clipper Race. From a luxurious long lunch on the iconic Whitehaven Beach, to a community welcome and Clipper Race prize-giving event in the heart of Airlie Beach and the Rodeo by the Reef in Bowe, the Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival will engage and excite the race crews and their loyal supporters.

Ha Long Bay, Vietnam secured line honours in the Race 5: the Whitsundays, Heart of the Great Barrier Reef race leg, after 19 tough days at sea. Ha Long Bay, Vietnam arrived at Coral Sea Marina Resort after dark yesterday evening, marking the welcome return of the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race.

After navigating from Freemantle, Western Australia through some changeable conditions, the crew of Ha Long Bay, Vietnam were met with the rapturous support of spectating family, friends and locals.

With the remainder of the fleet scheduled to arrive over the coming days, the Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival will take place from 11 - 18 January throughout the region.
