Sea-Fire named in top ten list of innovative companies

by Martin Flory Group 22 Nov 2019 05:34 PST

Sea-Fire Marine, the global leader in maritime fire detection and suppression systems, was recently honored with a Most Innovative Marine Companies Award.

The tribute recognizes 10 companies that reinvent themselves in response to market changes; for Sea-Fire, it is its global reach and eco-responsibility. The accolade was presented by Soundings Trade Only at its 40th-anniversary gala dinner.

Sea-Fire is a truly global enterprise with a worldwide distribution and service network. The award cited the example that the company opened a location in Columbia, South America, chiefly to serve the country's navy and coast guard. It's this dedication to its international customers that set the company apart for the judges.

The other trend that defined Sea-Fire as innovative for Soundings Trade Only is its response to the mandated EU hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) phase-out. As part of its corporate social responsibility, the forward-thinking company simply ceased selling HFC systems in Europe, opting instead for 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid that has a global warming potential of <1. While it forecasted reduced profit due to its action, company president Ernie Ellis knew it was the right thing to do.

"Our approach has always been to pioneer new technologies that improve maritime safety," said Ellis. "It's gratifying to be honored with a Most Innovative Marine Companies Award for the strategies we have implemented to achieve this goal."

Sea-Fire is dedicated to protecting people and property at sea. It manufactures a wide range of state-of-the-art marine fire detection and suppression systems to ISO 9001:2015 standards for recreational, commercial and military vessels, and offshore and shore-side structures.
