Nominations are now open for the RYA Regional Youth Awards.

Introduced in 2014, the previously named RYA Regional Youth Champion Awards traditionally recognised the outstanding dedication, achievement and performance of young people on the racecourse in sailing, windsurfing and powerboating.

Six years on and we are delighted to be re-launching the awards and widening the criteria. For 2020 and beyond we will not only recognise performance on the race course but will also celebrate achievements within the sport including volunteering and overcoming adversity.

RYA Programmes Manager, Michelle Gent, explains: "The vision is to inspire the next generation of sailors, windsurfers and powerboaters. We know there are hundreds of young people out on the water inspiring others and achieving amazing things.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for clubs, class associations and individuals to reward the young people who are really making an impact in boating, whether it's though performance, volunteering, instructing, coaching or adventure," she concludes.

The prize is changing too! All regional winners will be invited to take part in a once in a lifetime sailing experience with the British Sailing Team. Along with their families, winners will also be invited to the RYA Dinghy Show, in association with Yachts & Yachting for the official awards ceremony on 01 March 2020.

Nominations will close on 06 January 2020. Those nominated must have been under 19 years of age on 31st December 2019.

From the nominations received, each of the RYA's regional committees will select a regional winner.
