Almost 70 Enterprises made entries to the Sailing Chandlery National Circuit at the eight events around the UK. Looe Sailing Club in the South West, St. Mary's Loch in Southern Scotland, Penarth Yacht Club in Wales, Tynemouth Sailing Club in the North East, Leigh on Sea Sailing Club on the very tidal Thames Estuary.
More centrally, but still a variety of venues, Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club, Middle Nene Sailing Club South West of Peterborough and the very picturesque Ogston Sailing Club on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
Five events to count with the Final at Northampton Sailing Club counting for double points. Nigel and Andy Bird were showing a deserved lead with Jonathan Woodward, Charles Morrish and Ann Jackson all helming a squad of crews making the rest of the top 4.
Still in touch to topple the Birds from top spot was Tim Sadler with Chris Keatley, also set to ruffle feathers was Matt Rawson.
The Final event was run in conjunction with the Winter Champs attracting an entry of 15 braving the stormy conditions forecast (see separate report from Nigel Bird).
Martin Honnor and Gabe Hill although not in contention for the Circuit raced a consistent series to win the Winter Champs denying Tim and Chris the chance to oust Nigel and Andy as overall winners of the Circuit leaving themselves in second place by one point. Ann and Alan overhauled both Jonathan and Charles to finish 3rd overall.
Thanks to Sailing Chandlery for their generous prizes around the venues and continued support of the Enterprise Association.
