Tulane Sailing finishes Coed Showcase Semifinal

The Tulane sailing team wrapped up its weekend on the water on Sunday, totaling nine top 10 finishes in the remaining eight races of the Coed Showcase Semifinal.
"We had some great moments today in each division, but ultimately struggled to find the consistency to get us into the top nine," head coach Charles Higgins said. "We are by far the youngest team but I know we feel we are so close to breaking into the next level of performance. The team is hungrier than ever and I know they will be using this experience to fuel their drive to keep improving."
The Green Wave finished the regatta with 367 points to stand in 11th place among 18 top teams, defeating Jacksonville (386), George Washington (389), Old Dominion (433), Northeastern (438), Christopher Newport (448), New York Maritime (456) and Eckerd (465).
Skipper Cameron Giblin, alongside crews Katie Caritglia and Quinn Keenan, earned a ninth-place finish in the Division A boat. A fifth-place finish in the first race of the day gave the team a strong start, which the group then adding three additional top 10 results.
In the Division B boat, skipper Ciara Rodriguez-Horan and crews Grace Siwicki and Stephen Hahn recorded a 12th-place finish. Adding five top 10 finishes to close out day two of the regatta, the squad ended on a solid note with ninth-, fourth- and seventh-place finishes in the remaining three races.
Following today's finish, Tulane is set to compete in a consolation final on Oct. 18 and 19 in Newport, Rhode Island.
Boston University won the regatta, totaling 224 points, followed by Harvard with 224 and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with 239.
Tulane's women's team is back in action next weekend, heading to Navy to compete in the Women's Showcase Finals on Saturday and Sunday.
