The second leg of the annual team racing event against the Norwich Frostbite Sailing Club took place on Saturday 5th October.
This historic event goes back many years to the early days of both clubs and acknowledges the fact that many sailors are members at both clubs, sailing in the summer at Wroxham and then at Thorpe St Andrew in the winter.
Overall points scored are counted rather than race wins. The first leg was sailed in March in Norfolk Dinghies and NBYC came away with a ten point lead, a significant advantage for the Wroxham leg, sailing in Yare & Bure One Designs. On Saturday the wind was rather fickle, playing its usual Wroxham tricks and it was no surprise that the home team took an early advantage in the first race. Despite a misunderstanding over the course, NBYC won this race 9 points to 12.
The racing was much closer in the second race, but again NBYC emerged on top, winning by 7 points to 14. This gave NBYC the victory on the day by 16 points to 26 and confirmed the overall win for the year. An excellent lunch was enjoyed by competitors and supporters afterwards.
