On 8th November 2020, at 13:02, the ninth Vendée Globe will start from Les Sables-d'Olonne. Ever since its creation, the Vendée Globe - a sailing race round-the-world, solo, non-stop and without assistance - has been an essential reference in the world of offshore sailing. Driven by an ever-increasing popularity, the race attracts sailors from all horizons.

Nearly 400 days from the start, the number of candidates - 34 so far - already represents a first record for this 2020/2021 edition. The closing date for application is set on 1st November 2019 and the list of contenders is thus still likely to change.

In order to anticipate and support the involvement of many projects, Yves Auvinet, President of the SAEM Vendée - organizing company of the Vendée Globe - has announced that the Vendée Globe will welcome up to 34 competitors instead of 30.
