Emirates Team New Zealand have revealed their AC75 during a mast stepping exercise ahead of the launch tomorrow morning (NZT).
Although the boat is said to be an extreme AC75 design ahead of the team's second boat which will be their race boat, the AC75 is not particularly surprising.
The hull form is shallow almost catamaran like in their hull form to get onto their leeward bilge quickly reducing drag and to get the windward foil as clear of the water as quickly as possible.
That will help get the boat foiling as quickly as possible and then the hull will try and present low aerodynamic drag.
The bow looks relatively standard with the rake forward to get some fullness into the bow and encourage lift.
However the hull is only one piece of the AC75 puzzle and a proper assessment will be impossible until the boat has been sailing and sea-trialled.
Sail-World will be at the launch of the AC 75 tomorrow, which will be broadcast live on TVNZ's Breakfast show from 7.00am NZT
