Albacore Internationals at Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club, Nova Scotia - Day 3

by Pauline Rook 27 Aug 2019 22:10 PDT 24-30 August 2019

Day 3 in the delightful Shelburne harbour was undoubtedly owned by Neville Herbert and Mark Fowler. They are sailing the Albacore Association demo boat which they have chartered for the event, their boat having suffered damage at the Nationals.

The first race of the day was held in a light unstable wind and a big wind shift brought some new names to the fore. The UK team mostly gained a discard!

Gradually the sea breeze kicked in and by race three the Albacores were planing furiously. Neville and Mark held off the chasing overall leader, Raines Koby, to claim his first win of the day. In the strong breeze of the third race they drew out an enormous lead and won easily. The Lonsdales and Rook team faired better in the stronger winds posting countable results.
