Day two of the Rooster sponsored 420 National Championships dawned with a little more cloud than the previous day and the promise of a pretty significant wind shift to come in before the racing got under way.

The fleet undertook a beach clean, gathering up rubbish around the dinghy park and launch areas. The PRO then encouraged the fleet to get afloat promptly so that the four races scheduled for the day could get under way on time.

Race three (races 1 and 2 having been sailed yesterday) saw Oliver Dowson-McGill, sailing with a replacement crew due to regular crew Calum Cook being ill, take a big lead from early on. Haydn Sewell/William Heathcote finished second with Dylan McPherson and Jack Lewis third. The black flag took out some big names including 2 of the class coaches and the overnight leader.

The black flag continued its merciless culling of those over the line with 11 casualties in race 4. Eleanor Keers/Faye Chatterton took line honours, with Martin Wrigley/Marcus Tressler in second place.

Race 5 was won by Martin/Marcus followed by Freddie and Jack Parkin, with a big gap between them and the rest of the fleet.

Having started the day feeling that achieving four races would be hard work, the PRO must have been delighted to get all four slotted in. The only discard cuts in with the 6th race and this leaves it all to play for in the following two days.

Haydn and William currently lead the event, with Eleanor Keers and Faye Chatterton the first all female pairing and 5th overall, and Millie and Steve Irish as first mixed team and 8th overall.
