Brightlingsea Sailing Club is preparing to host a record number of RS Tera sailors for their National Championships 24-26th August 2019.

Over 80 RS Tera sport sailors and over 30 RS Tera pro sailors are making their way to the east coast for what is set to be an awesome three days of racing. The event is also excited to announce that it will be going green. Brightlingsea Sailing Club have been working hard to reduce the impact of this event on the environment. The club will not be providing printed sailing instructions and competitors will be encouraged to download copies onto their phones.

Not only will the club host awesome racing, on Saturday 24th there will be a RS Tera "Brain of Brightlingsea" Quiz Night and on Sunday 25th a BBQ followed by a Karaoke Night. Get those vocal chords warmed up!

Many of the young sailors have recently returned from Ljungskile, Sweden after competing at the World Challenge Trophy. Alice Davis from Great Moor Sailing Club, current RS Tera Pro World Champion, will be looking to add another National title to her growing trophy cabinet. Peter Cope, Isle of Man Yacht Club, will be looking to set the record straight after chasing Alice at the Worlds or will local sailors Blake Tudor, Brett Tudor or Edward Eeles find their groove.

RS Tera Sport World Champion, Jac Bailey from Port Dinorwic Sailing Club, took a convincing win at the Swedish Regatta but will Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club boys William Bailey or Matthew Rayner creep up to take the National title. Felix Stewart from Windermere School and Freddie Sunderland from OMSC are also ones to watch after placing highly in Ljungskile. It's all to play for!

The Championships will also include a full regatta fleet, made up of younger sailors eager to get out on the racecourse. For most regatta fleet sailors this will be their first event and its truly amazing that the RS Tera fleet offers this experience; they could be our future RS Tera National Champions!

An exciting, fun week of racing awaits for these junior athletes, so don't forget to like the RS Tera Sailing Facebook page or check out the event website to keep update with all the action!
